Martin Honasan
Martin Honasan (b.1976, Quezon City, Philippines) is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (Psychology and Communication Arts clusters). He worked as visual artist and art director in advertising (1999-2001), then as managing partner in his own design firm (2001-2004) prior to pursuing the visual arts full-time. Honasan is a Philippines-based mixed media artist working mostly with acrylic paint and shaped fabrics on canvas. He has done individual and group exhibitions in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, U.S.A., and France in local and international art conventions such as Art Fair Philippines, Art in the Park, Art Taipei, Bazaar Art Jakarta, Manila Art, VOLTA New York, and Asia Now Paris Art Fair. Honasan has had solo shows at cultural institutions in Manila, Philippines: the Cultural Center of the Philippines and Ayala Museum ArtistSpace with the support of Art Verité Gallery. In 2016, Martin Honasan participated in an artist residency program in Osaka, Japan where his completed works were exhibited at the YOD Gallery. In 2018 his works were featured by Osaka and Tokyo based YOD gallery in VOLTA New York 2018. Martin Honasan has has participated at the Asia Now Art Fair in Paris under Vinyl on Vinyl Gallery in 2019, 2021, and 2022.
